2008
Hi,
Just a word of well earned praise for the Pirate Festival event. My family (my husband, our? 4 1/2 year old son, any myself) had a great time today! Our son wore his own pirate suit and all three of us loved the pirates meandering around. The children's section was fabulous and our son so enjoyed it. We'll make it a yearly family event!
Well organized and great family friendly fun! Bravo!

I want to congratulate you on a GREAT PIRATE FESTIVAL! The way that you opened it up by using more of the park was the best thing that could have happened. Knowing that this is just the second one and how much better it was compared to the first one, which was great, is fantastic! I was with a 12 year old boy who said "it was the best time he has had in Portland in his life"! And he goes over to Portland 2 to 3 times a year!! Ounce again, I cannot thank you enough for a great festival!!
Thank you, John Mc Clung, Bend Or.
"I just wanted t' tell you all what a blast we had at t' festival today. We took our son thar for his 8th birthday, with seven other sprogs, and it was "t' best birthday party ever." (to quote one 10 year old bucko, who has great birthday parties each year). We plan t' make t' festival an annual tradition!

We came further up the river to Portland for the Second Annual Pirate Festival. So awesome words can barely begin to describe it.

I have to thank you guys for putting on a excellent festival. We had so much fun! I would have to say hands down, the Portland Pirate Festival was the best event we have ever attended. Well done! Great food (Horn of Africa), great shows (parrots and of course Captain Bogg & Salty), great merchants, and lots of fun pirates too. The best of all, very kid friendly. Our daughter loved it! I noticed this is only the second year. Please tell me this event will continue for many years to come.
Thanks again for a great day, Stephanie A.
Hello, My husband and I took our grandson who is 4 1/2 to the festival today and had a wonderful time! If there's an email list for people who'd like to be reminded about the 2008 festival, I'd like to be on it!
Thank you so much, Lin D.
We had a fantastic time at the Pirate Festival in 2007. I was glad I bumped into someone who told me about it and gave me a postcard to remind me. We rode the jet boat, and how cool was that?! The perfect transportation to the pirate festival, and the jolly rogers snapping on the masts of the sailboats docked at the pier quickly got us in the mood. We are definitely planning to come back next year, in full pirate regalia, and we'll be getting tickets for both days so we can properly appreciate all the acts we missed by only coming on Saturday. The ship to shore battles with the Lynx were incredible!
Hoist the colors, ye salty dogs, and we be keepin' a weather eye out for the 2008 Pirate Festival! Yaar!!
Cheers, Anna
Well the McQueen Clan had a blast today at the second annual Portland Pirate Festival. What a great day! Outside of the fact that Cap'n Bogg and Salty appeared, there was fun to be had all over...
... There were Pirate Morris dancers, choreographed fights by the Puget Sound Pirates, and BOOM (Brotherhood Of Oceanic Mercenaries). Boom does Cannon and black powder demonstrations all day. There was also a small tall ship named the Lynx docked, and at times they would take folks out for a ride, part of the ride was a lot of fun, when they would pass by the shore where BOOM was they would get into a mock ship to shore battle. Eight pounders being fired at you, even when you know there are no ca! nnon balls in them, are scary. The Brothers of boom also put on staged combat, hand to hand, and a mock battle with Redcoats....
...The festival is a great place for kids. They even have a bunch of "Blow-Ups" a pirate castle, a Pirates of the carribean bouncy slide. The Dragon Theatre is where they have puppet shows and on the other end of the "food court" was a Pirate Parrot show. A guy who has something like 80 parrots, does a very informative show with a huge array of beautiful birds, most of whom have come to him via folks who didn't know what they are getting into when they buy a bird. One of the most beautiful was a Green throated Macaw, of which there are estimated only 24 in the wild.
